Robert Thomas Reilly, age 78, of Murrells Inlet, SC, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at MUSC in Charleston, SC.
Bob was born August 17, 1938, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Thomas A. and Dorothy (Meade) Reilly. He was a graduate of Loyola College in Baltimore, MD with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting. He began his public accounting career with the Baltimore office of EY (formerly Ernst & Young, Ernst & Whinney, Ernst & Ernst) in June 1960. Bob served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 and was assigned to the Air Defense Artillery Base in Norfolk, VA.
Upon his discharge from the service, he resumed his career with EY, transferring to the firm's Charlotte, NC office in March 1969 where he remained until September of 1977. He was admitted to the partnership in 1976. In 1977 Bob was again promoted and assigned the responsibilities as the Managing Partner of the Harrisburg, PA office, where he continued his practice until his retirement from the firm on June 30, 1993.
During his years of involvement within the Harrisburg business community, Bob served in many leadership roles including Chairman of the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, President of the Keystone Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Co-Chairman of the Tri-County United Way, President and Board Member of the Harrisburg Rotary Foundation, and was a Chartering Executive of the Harrisburg Chapter of Executive Women International, as well as a former member of the West Shore Country Club. He was a member of the PA and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.
Following his retirement to Murrells Inlet, SC in 1993, Bob remained active in community and philanthropic activities including involvement as a Member of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, former President of Wachesaw Plantation, and past member of the Keystone Sports Foundation. He was a life-long avid golfer and a passionate supporter of the game. Bob was a member of the Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, Pawley's Island, SC.
Bob is survived by his wife, Cheryl George Reilly, whom he married in 2002. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Beverly Strevig Reilly, who died in 2000; a sister, Margaret (Peggy) Wells, and a brother, Donald Charles Reilly.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived to celebrate his life and mourn his passing, by his brother, James Joseph Reilly of FL/MD, and his children; Sheila Reilly Tripp (fiancÚ, Timothy Gardiner) of Pittsburgh, PA; Mark Thomas Reilly (Christine) of Harrisburg, PA; Kathryn Reilly Mapes (Todd) of Atlanta, GA; and step-daughter Courtnay Gray (companion, Dan Ibach). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.
A celebration of Bob's life for friends and family will be held on Saturday, June 3rd from 1:00 - 3:00 at West Shore Country Club, 100 Brentwater Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011 .
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The First Tee of the Grand Strand, P.O. Box 4806, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29597, or to a charitable organization of your choice in Bob's honor.

We were so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. We have known Bob for more than 20 years. He contributed so much to Wachesaw and so many other organizations. Cheryl, you and your family will be in our prayers.

I will forever have fond memories of Bob Reilly. He had tremendous insight and judgement. I had a great deal of respect for him and his family values.
