Wanda Atkinson

Wanda Hamilton Atkinson, cherished wife and mother, 67, passed away at her home in Surfside Beach on Thursday, April 05, 2018.

Born and raised in Conway, SC, Wanda was the daughter of the late Pauline and James Hamilton and the eldest of five children.

A lifelong lover of education, Wanda always kept her mind busy and was a beloved teacher for more than 25 years. A valedictorian of Conway High School and an alumna of Furman University, she was exceptionally intelligent with an amazing mind for statistics; especially when it came to sports, particularly her South Carolina Gamecocks. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Atkinson Black and son-in-law, John Black of Dallas, TX, and son, Jeremy Atkinson of Surfside Beach. She is also survived by her siblings, Mike Hamilton of Wichita, KS, Sandra Wisener of Myrtle Beach, and Terry Hamilton of Conway. She is predeceased by her husband Danny Atkinson of Myrtle Beach and her sister Annette Hamilton Ard of Conway.

A service will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home on Sunday, April 8th at 3 pm, with visitation beginning at 2 pm. A graveside service will follow the ceremony at Ocean Woods Cemetery in Myrtle Beach.
