William J Singletary

William J. Singletary, 68, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Thursday May 14, 2020 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, South Carolina. He was born on October 20, 1951 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late John Perry & Gladys Ruth (Skinner) Singletary.

Along with his parents, William is preceded in passing by his sister, Dorothy Ann Martin.

William was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. He worked for Georgetown Steel for many years, until his well-deserved retirement. Wanting to make sure his family was well taken care of, William continued working as a skilled A/C repairman. In his free time, William loved hunting and fishing and above all else, spending time with his family. William will be truly missed for his caring demeanor, dedication to all his tasks and for his sense of humor and wit.

Left to cherish William’s memory are his beloved wife of 49 wonderful years, Virginia (Lambert) Singletary of Georgetown; their adoring children, Gladys Barnes and her husband, Ronald of Georgetown, Renee Shoptaw and her husband, Rus also of Georgetown & Johnathan Singletary and his wife, Kristin of Andrews; his grandchildren, Chelsie, Alston, Bradley, Johnathan, Abagail, Celeste, Taylor, Raylan, & Caleb; the apple of his eye-his great-granddaughter, Cadence; brothers, Jim Singletary and his wife, Liz of Maine & Ed Singletary, Sr. and his wife, Kathy of California; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family & many supportive friends and neighbors.

A graveside service in celebration of William’s life will be held on Friday May 22, 2020 at 2:00PM at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens; 1640 Pennyroyal Rd., Georgetown, SC 29440.
