William Leroy Altman

William Leroy Altman, 81, of Murrells Inlet, SC, died on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Veterans Victory House Nursing Home in Walterboro, SC. He was born in Hemmingway, SC, on May 20, 1942, to the late Sam and Florence Altman.

Leroy was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. During his deployment, he was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs.  He went on from the Navy to work for AVX as an instrument rated corporate pilot. He also was involved in real estate in and around Murrells Inlet. Leroy loved being on the water and spending as much time with his family as he could.

In addition to his parents, Leroy is preceded in death by one brother, John Wayne Altman, and one sister, Cora Lee Sellers.

Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Altman Hawkins (David); one son, Lee Moree (Karen); two sisters Nancy Donahue (Jerry) and Carolyn Neely (William); three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Belin United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4182 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
