William "Bill" Finley Abee Jr. of Murrells Inlet passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Bill was born in Charlotte, NC but grew up in Belmont, NC. The son of the late Finley and Edith Abee, Bill had three brothers, all predeceasing him – Charles, Bobby Dean, and Jerry.
After graduating from Belmont High School, Bill joined the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country in Vietnam. After serving four years, he returned to the Belmont area and went into pest control, opening his own business.
He met the love of his life, Sharon, and they married in 1992. They moved their family to the Litchfield area in 1993, where Bill went to work for Terminix, working for them almost 25 years. He retired in 2017.
Bill and Sharon enjoyed traveling, visiting Tybee Island, GA and taking numerous cruises. He enjoyed watching college football, the Carolina Panthers, and NASCAR. He was a member of VFW Post 10420 and American Legion Post 178, both in Murrells Inlet.
In addition to Sharon, he is survived by his son Brian, daughter-in-law Trish, and granddaughter Lilah of Pearland, TX; his daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Wes, and granddaughter Kaylee; and his two cats, Boots and Bitty.
A memorial service will be held, with military honors on Sunday October 12, 2025 at 3pm, at Belin UMC, Outdoor Chapel, 4182 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576
