Wendy Swindell Obituary

Wendy Anderson Swindell, age 81, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 of cancer related complications.  Wendy was born to Edmund Anderson and Antoinette (Toni) Johnson of New York City, New York.  Wendy attended school in La Nouvelle Roseraie,  Switzerland; The Paramedic University of Maryland; and she completed technical, medical clinical, business management, and American Foreign Policy courses throughout her public service career. In 1956 she was presented as a Debutante at the annual Cotillion Ball held in the New York Waldorf Astoria Hotel.  In 1959, she married Willam H. Swindell, Jr. of Palm Beach, Florida.  Together, they had one son, William H. Swindell, III who now lives in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Wendy demonstrated her love of adventure and challenge in her career choices which included:  Sr. Project and Migration Manager for British Telecom Global Services;  Sr. Program and Launch Manager for Concert Management Services; Product Assurance Manager in Engineering for Skytel; Quality Assurance Analyst for Boeing Computer Services; Quality Assurance Deployment Manager for Science Applications International Corporation; Medical Management Consultant, West Palm Beach, Florida; and Emergency Department Paramedic, Shady Grove Hospital, Rockville, Maryland.

In 2018 Wendy was named an Honorary Member of the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police.  She was a staunch supporter of Firefighters and Paramedics and was tremendously proud of her son and grandson, who following in her paramedic footsteps, became Firefighter Paramedics themselves.  Wendy was a true patriot who believed deeply in the goodness of America and its people. To that end, she served as an election pole worker for several years and always encouraged those around her to participate actively in government.  Wendy loved sailing, Broadway music, dogs (especially miniature dachshunds), fresh cut flowers, and Maryland crab cakes.  She was a devoted Washington football fan, a contributor to charitable causes, and she strove to be a good neighbor and friend.

Wendy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Grady Swindell of West Palm Beach, Florida; her grandson, Brantley of West Palm Beach, Florida: her brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Andrea Palmer of Bay Port, Long Island, New York; and one niece, two nephews, friends, and neighbors who will miss her gracious hospitality, her outgoing personality, her energy and drive, and her sense of adventure and fun.

A Celebration of Wendy's life will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
