Wayne Patke Obituary

Wayne Philip Patke, 81, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday November 11, 2019 at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on February 5, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Philip Patke & Elizabeth (Kasner) Patke.

Along with his parents, Wayne is reunited in passing with his sister, Sandi Lenahan.

Wayne was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. His love for his work lead him to have a successful career with the Nabisco Company for many years. Upon his well-deserved retirement, Wayne was able to fully appreciate his passion for golf. As a selfless man, he gave of his time and effort volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He was a proud and active member of Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus. Wayne will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of getting to know him through the years.

Left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his beloved wife and soulmate, Mrs. Barbara Susan (Carpenter) Patke of Pawleys Island; their children, Brian Patke of Pawleys Island & Beth Shreffler and her husband, Jonathan of Cleveland, OH; three adoring grandchildren, Justin, Avery & Jake; sister, Sheryl Hogan and her husband, Richard of Chicago, IL; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held privately at a later date.
