Wayne Allen Neff, 73, of North Myrtle Beach, SC passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at his residence. He was born December 23, 1947 in Wilmington, DE son of the late Leon Grice (biological father), Frank Neff (step-father) and Elizabeth Jane Johnson Neff.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Grice Hutchins and Brenda Grice Hicks; as well as two brothers, Leon Grice, Jr. and Richard Grice.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Neff of North Myrtle Beach; sisters, Edith Gochal of Debary, FL and Carol Grice Hicks of Gastonia, NC; three brothers, James Neff of Deland, FL, Mac Grice and his wife, Susan of Mt. Holly, NC and Larry Grice of Bradenton, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was raised by Frank and Elizabeth Neff, however since Frank was his stepfather, he always knew he had another family. Christmas of 2018, through ancestry.com, he found that family and was blessed to learn he had four brothers and three sisters who shared his biological father, Leon Grice. One brother had passed prior to this time. The following Thanksgiving, Wayne and his wife shared a blessed holiday with sixty plus relatives.
Wayne was a member of the American Wine Society and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He had many interests but his true loves were the ocean and studying and sharing great wine. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time sailing. After thirty-six years of being a single man, Wayne met Deb, the love of his life. They married in 2016 and shared friendship, love and respect that was unsurpassed.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Comedy Cabana, 9588 N. Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Tunnel to Towers” in honor of a man who always gave to others.
