Vernon "Vern" David McGalliard

Vernon “Vern” David McGalliard, 78, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away Thursday, May 05, 2022 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. He was born September 21, 1943 in Glen Alpine, NC, son of the late Vernon Fate McGalliard and Beulah Baker McGalliard.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McGalliard.

Survivors include his two sons, David McGalliard of Surfside Beach, SC and Joel McGalliard and his wife, Nuzly of Murrells Inlet, SC; one sister, Norma Perry and her husband, Randy of Morganton, NC; three grandchildren, Tyler McGalliard and his wife, Kristen of Murrells Inlet, Katlyn McGalliard of Surfside Beach, and Ashlee McGalliard of Surfside Beach.

Vern was a welder for over twenty years, he was also in the clearing and grading business before retiring at fifty-five after building the Indian Land Plaza.

Vern always had a contagious smile on his face, he would go out of his way to help and almost never met a stranger. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.  

A celebration of Vern’s life will be held 3:00pm Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made in Vern’s name to the Gift of life Donor Program, www.donors1.org
