Vera Gerace, 79, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away on January 15th, 2026, in Murrells Inlet.
Born in Schweinfurt, Germany in 1946 to Mykola and Anna Jaroszenko, Vera later made her home in the United States. She lived in Annapolis, Maryland from 1974 to 2015 before relocating to Murrells Inlet in 2014, where she remained until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carmine Gerace; her parents; and two brothers.
Vera is survived by her son, Peter Gerace, and her grandson, Cullen Gerace, both of Murrells Inlet. Being a mother and grandmother were the greatest joys of her life. She loved her son deeply and was especially devoted to her grandson, who was the light of her life and brought her endless pride, happiness, and purpose.
In her younger days, Vera was a phenomenal cook and a gifted gardener. She was known for her quick wit, unique sense of humor, strong opinions, and incredible generosity. She also leaves behind many friends in Maryland and South Carolina who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or flowers planted in her memory. Vera’s wishes were for everyone to forgive and forget, hold no grudges, and take time to enjoy life. The family would like to thank Tidelands Hospice for their compassionate care and service.
