Urban C. Faber, II, 72, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday November 28, 2020 at his home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He was born on October 8, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Urban “Red” Clarence Faber, Sr., & Frances (Knudtzon) Faber.
Urban was a trained professional photographer who chose to use his skills as a natural businessman to build a successful real estate agency in the Chicago suburbs. As the years progressed an insurance agency followed. In his free time he loved the camaraderie he found in riding his motorcycle with friends. Urban loved the open road and the wind in his face riding his motorcycle to rallies from Sturgis to Myrtle Beach. In Myrtle Beach he decided this is where he would retire. On retirement he relocated to Surfside Beach and enjoyed spending time in the sun on the local piers. He could most often be found on the Garden City pier with his “Liars Club” buddies fishing and soaking up the sun. He was a passionate sports fan and proud son of his Baseball Hall of Fame father, “Red” Faber, who pitched for the Chicago White Sox for almost 20 years.
Urban broke his neck in a diving accident as a teenager. He worked hard to walk again, graduate from college and own his own successful business. He will be deeply missed for his strong will and perseverance in adversity, his sweet disposition, sense of humor, and his sardonic wit, and above all his love for God and belief in His promise to one day be whole again.
Left to cherish Urban’s memory are his beloved wife of 20 years, Ms. Julie L. (White) Faber of Surfside Beach; his step-children, Justin Rogers and his wife, Christina of FL, Jessica Johnson and her husband, Andrew of CA & Janelle Snyder and her husband, Jason of IA; step-grandchildren, Samuel Johnson, & Lyla Rogers; his adoring k9 fur baby, Blue; as well as many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Urban’s life will be held in Chicago at a later date. Those details will be announced when finalized.
