Tracy Wright Obituary

Tracy L. Wright, born in Conway, South Carolina, and a resident of Myrtle Beach, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering strength. A prominent real estate attorney and a beloved friend and mentor, Tracy's gentle nature was the essence of who she was. To know her was to know a person whose giving spirit and empathy knew no bounds. She had no facade; she was simply, genuinely herself. Born with a spirit of impartiality and a heart that believed in everyone, Tracy had a remarkable ability to restore balance, making her a powerful yet gentle force in the lives of those she touched. She was known for putting the care of others first, and she was always willing to give someone a chance.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of South Carolina in 1987 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1990, Tracy embarked on her legal career. She was a brilliant and respected attorney, achieving her goal of becoming a partner at Willcox, Buyck & Williams P.A. in 2003, where she served for over 20 years.

Despite her professional success, Tracy was deeply passionate about teaching. She served as an adjunct professor for the paralegal program at Horry Georgetown Technical College, a role she often spoke of fondly. She was a fantastic teacher who would say, "The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask." Tracy believed she could train anyone to succeed, as long as they were a good person.

Throughout her life, Tracy faced numerous health challenges, including battling cancer three times. Yet, she refused to let these struggles define her. She maintained a thriving career and remained one of the most determined, hard-working, and kind people you could ever meet.

Tracy is survived by her sister, Trent Spang (Scott) of Ridgeway, SC; her brothers, David Reynolds Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC and Daniel Rivers Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC; her nephews, David Rivers Spang (Crystal) of Myrtle Beach, SC and William Spang of Ridgeway, SC; and her nieces, Sarah Reagan (Mark) of Alexandria, VA and Madison Devereux (Logan) of Charleston, SC. She also leaves behind a large, loving extended family, including her cherished colleagues from her legal work, who she considered her family.

She taught many valuable lessons and was a constant source of kind words. She was the fiercest calm most people will ever know and was revered by many in her field. Tracy L. Wright is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
