Thomas Blanchard McFarland

Thomas Blanchard McFarland, 70, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at MUSC in Charleston. He was born July 20, 1950 in Lewistown, PA son of the late James Edward McFarland and Janet Alice Swyers McFarland.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his father-in-law Gerald Miller and mother-in-law, Viola (Hockenberry )Miller.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years, Vivian (Miller) McFarland of Murrells Inlet; two sons, James McFarland of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jason McFarland and his wife Ellen of Canton, GA; sister, Sue Royer of Yeagertown, PA; special sister-in-law, Georgia Colpetzer of York, PA; and special nephews and nieces.

Thomas enjoyed spending his time playing the bass guitar, hunting, fishing, golfing and listening to music. Early in life he sang and played bass in a rock band called, The Ivies. He later sang in a gospel quartet and played bass on worship teams. He also loved watching college football and spending time with his beloved dog, Mike, walking and exploring.

Thomas was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, The Fathers House Church in Myrtle Beach, where he and his wife currently attended, many churches in Pennsylvania, and bowling and golf leagues. He coached little league baseball for many years.

A private family viewing will be held in Lewistown, PA.

A public graveside service will be held 12:00pm Friday, November 27, 2020 at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 US Highway 522 S, Lewistown, PA 17044.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made in Thomas’ name to The Fathers House, favorite dog rescue/shelter, MDS/Leukemia Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice.
