Thomas Lynch Obituary

Thomas A. Lynch, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Charleston, SC.

 

Mr. Lynch was born February 8, 1932 in New York City, NY, son of Thomas and Dorothy (Gibney) Lynch.

 

Mr. Lynch grew up in New Jersey, graduated from Bayonne High School in 1950 where he played basketball.  He attended Bayonne Jr. College where he also excelled at basketball and baseball.

 

The Korean conflict interrupted his education and he served proudly in the Army from 1952 thru 1954 both during and after the hostilities.  He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge as well as the Korean Service Medal w/one Bronze Star, the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Korea 50th Anniversary Medal, State of New Jersey Korean War Commemorative Medal and the Distinguished Service Medal.  Mr. Lynch was in the 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lighting) 35th Regiment Heavy Motor Company.

 

Mr. Lynch was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #11028 in Pawleys Island, SC.  He had achieved Honorary Life Membership in the Knights and also served as a Past Grand Knight of Council #3946 in Roselle, NJ.

 

He served in various supervisory and management positions with Texaco Inc., Exxon Research and Engineering Co., Heuga USA, a division of VanHeughten - a Dutch company, where he was the Traffic and Warehouse Manager and American Ultraviolet as General Manager.

 

A resident of South Carolina for 35 years, Mr. Lynch was associated with Myrtle Beach National at Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort for 10 years.  He was also active in two homeowners’ associations where he served as president.  Mr. Lynch is a past president of Dragon Boat at the Beach, a wellness program for cancer survivors and participated in many festivals.  He also volunteered at Brookgreen Gardens.

 

Mr. Lynch is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joan (Schwarz) Lynch.  Brother Robert of Carefree, AZ.  His four children, son Thomas and wife Deborah, daughters Nancy Willan and husband Gary, Maureen Rapp and husband Michael, Elizabeth Snel, all of New Jersey.  His five stepchildren, sons Steven Natalewicz, Scott Natalewicz and wife Rose, Craig Natalewicz and wife Gina, Thomas Natalewicz and wife Tammy, all of New Jersey, and daughter Laura MacMillan and husband Robert of Hollywood, SC.

 

Sixteen grandchildren - Kevin, Daniel, Conor, MaryKate, Sara, Catherine, Jessica, Stephen, Amanda, Carissa, Kristen, Matthew, Michael, Jennifer, Faith and Kelsey.  Eight great grandchildren - Logan, Brayden, Luke, Nolan, Eli, Benjamin, Jonathon and Charlotte.

 

Mr. Lynch enjoyed golf, the beach and was an avid reader.

 

Burroughs Funeral Home of Murrells Inlet, SC handled the cremation service.

A celebration of life will be held at the Reserve Harbor Yacht Club, 2040 Willbrook Boulevard, Pawleys Island, SC on Friday, 2 Dec. 2022, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
