Theodore William Kofod, Jr., 94, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, formerly of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026.
Born on May 15, 1931, in Jamestown, New York, Ted was the son of late Theodore W. Kofod, Sr. and Gerda Hanson Kofod. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Christian; beloved family members in the Jamestown, New York area; and his wife, Janet Barney Kofod. He lived a life marked by service, friendship, enthusiasm, and devotion to family.
Ted proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1953 during the Korean War era. He worked as a Radar Repairman and achieved the rank of Airman First Class. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Korean War Service Medal. His military service remained a source of pride throughout his life.
Following his years in the Air Force, Ted built a rich and active life centered around family, community, and his many interests. He enjoyed golf, Bocce ball, horseshoe leagues, and collecting classic model cars and airplanes. A passionate Michigan State University sports enthusiast, he also maintained lifelong friendships through organizations and clubs that meant a great deal to him. Ted was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity at Michigan State University, the MSU Sailing Club, the West Marion Moose Lodge #2356 in Ocala, Florida, and the American Legion in Murrells Inlet.
He is survived by his daughters, Lauren and Steve Dodd of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; Karen and Grant Richards of Dripping Springs, Texas; and Susan and Karl Torchia of Oceanport, New Jersey. He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughters, Kase, Kampbell, Kassidy Torchia, of Oceanport, NJ: and Erica Saunders and family of Longs, South Carolina; grandsons Andrew and Jay Richards of Austin, Texas; nephew Robert Christian and family of Port Charlotte, Florida; nieces Carolee and Tim Hood of Apopka, Florida, and Amy Christian and family of Tampa, Florida; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan and Jim Long; Dolores Porter and family of Ocala, Florida; as well as many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Thailand, and Murrells Inlet. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 10, 2026, at 12:00 a.m.at Burroughs Funeral Home 3558 Old Kings Hwy Murrells Inelet, SC 29576. Visitation will be prior to service from 11:00am until service time.

Ted will be remembered for his patriotism, warm friendships, love of sports and family gatherings, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
