Teresa de Jesus Cruz de Rivas

Teresa de Jesus Cruz de Rivas better known to everyone as “Mayita”, age 83, of Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday May 4, 2023 at Conway Medical Center.

Born in El Salvador, Mayita was the daughter of the late Tomasa Cruz & Cesar Gomez.  In addition to her parents, Mayita is preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Cruz.

She lived most of her life in Santa Ana, El Salvador and spent her later years in Virginia before moving to Myrtle Beach. Mayita loved crocheting, sewing, and gardening and she especially liked taking care of her hot pepper plants. She enjoyed making scarves for her loved ones during the winter. Mayita loved joking with her grandkids, giving them funny nicknames along with having them read the bible and sharing her favorite snacks.  A faithful woman who loved the lord, Mayita loved her family and always had a welcoming smile and a cup of coffee to offer you at any time.

Survivors include her children, Rosa Cruz, Yanira Rodriguez (Ruben), Milton Rivas and Omar Rivas (Carmen); grandchildren, Jose (Sarah), Edwin (Eliene), Mandi (Jason), Michael Lovo, Christian (Pamela), Milton (Lauren), Jonathan and Geovanni; great grandchildren, Christopher, Bryan, Isabella, Danielle, Valentina, Camila and Noah.

A Celebration of Mayita’s Life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday May 7, 2023 at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet. Fr. Ed Fitzgerald officiant.
