Susan Frances Moriarty

Susan Frances Moriarty, 75, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at her residence. She was born on December 3, 1949, in Bennington, VT, daughter of the late William and Theresa Grant.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Francis Moriarty, and a brother, Tom Grant.

She is survived by a son, Robert F. Moriarty of Arlington, VT; a daughter, Keelin von Achen and her husband, David of Murrells Inlet, SC; sisters, Deborah Morrissey of Venice Beach, FL and Ruthanne Amick of Concord, NH; grandchildren, Haley von Achen, David von Achen, and Sean Moriarty; sister-in-law, Donna Grant of Babcock Lake, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Susan graduated in 1967 as the last graduating class of Bennington Catholic High School in Bennington, VT. Upon high school graduation she attended College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, MA with a BA in Education majoring in math. This is where she met her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert Moriarty. After graduation she was a math teacher for 30+ years in Massachusetts, where she and her husband raised their family.

After retirement and moving to SC Susan loved to spend time relaxing and sunning on the beach. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially time with her grandchildren. Susan will always be remembered by those who loved her and for her sense of humor and practical jokes.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, July 31, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Avenue, Garden City, SC.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made in Susan’s name to St. Michael Catholic Church.
