Sue Ann Crytzer, age 86, passed away in the Grand Strand Hospital of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on January 21, 2026 from stroke complications.
She was born November 11, 1939, in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania to her late parents, Thomas and nRose (Remacle) Coll.
Sue Ann, a 1957 graduate of Har-Brack High School, Natrona Heights, also graduated from the Allegheny Valley Hospital (AVH) School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and nfrom the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and was a nursing Instructor at AVH for years.
Upon her marriage to David Crytzer, she moved to Jamestown, New York and continued her career at the Women’s Christian Association (WCA) Hospital where she was a driving force in developing the Diabetic Educational Department and was one of the first RNs in the country to become nationally certified as a Diabetic Educational Specialist for which she received numerous awards and acknowledgements. She served on the board of both the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She mentored countless nurses and other healthcare providers.
Sue most treasured her hours spent playing games, painting, and exploring with her grandson David, and enjoyed visits from friends and family, trivia nights, and watercolor painting.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband David M. Crytzer; daughter Jessica Crytzer, a nurse practitioner, a sister Mary Jane Nordsiek, and her niece Karen Mitchell, RN.
Sue is survived by her son Daniel Crytzer (Jennifer Bibbee), grandson David, a sister Elizabeth Blackburn, RN, a brother-in-law Paul Crytzer (Barbara), a niece Patty Lefford (Brad), a nephew Mike Nordsiek, and many other nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the Karen S. Mitchell Nursing Scholarship Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring Street, Jamestown, New York, 14701.
Burial will be private and a memorial may be held at a later date.
