Stephen Franklin Hastings, 54, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away on October 10, 2020, at his home. He was born on April 24, 1966, in New Britain, Connecticut, to Barbara F. Hastings (Duda) and Ronald Hastings.
Steve is reunited in death with his mother, father and stepfather, John "Pat" Patterson.
Steve attended Ringgold High School and grew up in Monongahela, PA, but often visited his cousins in Donora, PA. He loved to operate heavy equipment, and worked in construction for many years. Steve was adept at throwing darts and, on occasion, taking some money from the table. It was not unusual for Steve to be throwing his hands up in victory as he looked back at his dart throwing partner. Steve loved his pick-up truck, Bobcat, and motorcycle. You could tell that Steve liked his Harley Davidson because he kept it looking brand new! We all know how much he loved his Pit Bull, Fancy, she was his pride and joy. She loved him as much as he loved her. Stephen was an avid sports fan, especially the Steelers and Penguins. Stephen was a talented artist. His painting featuring Reagan and Gorbachev made the local papers. Steve depicted the concern we all had with the dangers of nuclear war. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of getting to know him.
Stephen is survived by his sister, Susan Freeman; his brother, Brett Patterson; and sister-in-law, Christa; his Uncle Ron and Uncle Jim and Aunt Bonnie; cousins, Bobby Duda, Ron Duda, Jr., Paul Duda, Jame Amoroso, Juliet Minton, Michael Duda, and Jacob Duda; several nieces and nephews; his beloved Pit Bull, Fancy as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held privately.
