Sammy "Sam the Man" Curtis Richardson

Sammy “Sam the Man,” Curtis Richardson, 56, passed away on Saturday September 9, 2023 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on January 14, 1967 in Conway, South Carolina to Ernestine Martin Richardson & the late Billy Richardson.

Along with his father, Sammy is reunited in passing with his brother, Billy Andrew Richardson; nephew, Chad Andrew Richardson; brothers in-law, Willie Louis Spivey and Kenneth Eugene Woodberry.

Sammy was a hardworking man who loved to make people laugh. He was a skilled and well-educated electrician for many years. In his free time, Sammy could be found tinkering with his many projects. Sammy had a general knowledge about many things, making him a, “Jack of all Trades.” Many who knew Sammy, knew him as, “Sam the Man.” He will be deeply missed.

Along with his mother, left to cherish Sammy’s memory are his son, Billy Dalton Richardson of Conway; sisters, Sarah Jean Spivey of Myrtle Beach, Linda Gail Lane of O’Fallon, IL & Karen Elaine Richardson of Myrtle Beach; his special cousin- who was more like a sister to him, Jackie Lynn Sellers of Aynor; special sister in-law, Jean Richardson; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Sammy’s life will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday September 14, 2023 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Inurnment will follow at 2:00PM at Hillcrest Cemetery, Hwy 544, Conway, SC 29526.
