Rusty Langley

Burnice Russell Langley Jr. (Rusty) passed away at his home in Pawley’s Island, SC on May 2, 2022 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s. His loving wife, Marilyn was by his side. Rusty was born in Columbia, SC and spent much of his youth and adult life in Greenville, SC. He attended Greenville High School and graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Textile Engineering and served in the US Army for two years. He worked in the textile industry over 40 years and upon retirement, he enjoyed working in the real estate market on Pawley’s Island for several years. Rusty was the son of the late B. Russell Langley Sr. and the late Edith M. Langley of Greenville, SC. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Langley, sister Salley Batson and husband Elliott Batson of Greenville, SC, sons Russell Langley and wife Robin of Charlotte, NC; Christopher Langley and wife Beth of Spartanburg, SC; Brian Langley and wife Kerry of Buford, GA. and daughter, Inger Lilleoer and husband Hans of Denmark.

He leaves behind nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He will be truly missed by all.

Rusty was a member of Pawley’s Island Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir and was active in the Men’s Breakfast Ministry. Some say he was the best scrambled egg cook in all of SC. He was an avid flounder fisherman in his favorite Pawley’s Island creek. He was a very accomplished water skier and taught his sons the joy of water skiing. Rusty never met a stranger and had a large group of close friends both old and new.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Pawley’s Island Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:30 AM, followed by a reception at the Church.
