Rudolph P. Daughtery, Jr. “Rick”, “Rudy”, “Chubby”
Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, 77, died peacefully on January 25, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Born October 14, 1946, in Mullins, South Carolina, son of the late Mary “Helen” Hayes Daughtery and the late Rudolph P Daughtery “Grip” of Lakeview, SC

He grew up in Lake View, SC and was a graduate of Camden Military Academy and Western Carolina University. After retiring from the finance and insurance industry, Rick and Linda moved from Columbia, SC to Murrells Inlet to be closer to family. He was a member of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, The Adventures Unlimited Group and The Quarterfest group in Bennettsville, SC. He was a master of grilling, fishing, telling stories and jokes, playing cards, and cooking.  His most coveted role, “Grandpa”.  He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. He valued friendship and family above all else and treated every person he met with kindness and respect. Let us not focus on the loss or the struggles, but the life he lived, his perseverance, the lessons he taught us, the love he shared and the legacy he has left behind. Let us honor him by living our lives with the same kindness and love he shared with others.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Karr Daughtery of Murrells inlet; daughter, Lauren Daughtery Griffith (Ben) of Murrells Inlet; son, Rudolph P Daughtery, III “ Trey” (Debra) of Beaufort, SC; his Pride and Joy, his grandchildren, aka (“Birds”, “Daisy” and “Buddy”) Mary Karr Griffith, Clara Jane Griffith, Millie McClary Griffith, Hayes Elizabeth Daughtery and Isaac David Daughtery; his beloved sister, Pat Daughtery Bates (Ted Chapman) of Murrells Inlet; brother in laws, Thomas Vance Leonard and Samuel Robert Spann, II both of Murrells inlet; sister-in- law, Brenda Karr Barrineau of Summerville, SC; Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins that he all adored.

He is preceded in death by sisters, Charlene Daughtery Leonard, and Page Daughtery Spann, and brother-in-law, Harry Glenmore Bates, III.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet on
Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11 am. A reception to follow at the Belin Family Life Center.

Memorials can be made to the Caring House at 2526 Pickett Rd, Durham, NC 27705. A non-profit organization that helps provide cancer patients with a “home away from home” or to the Belin Memorial United Methodist Church - Angel Tree Fund and/or Missions Fund, 4182 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

A special thank you to everyone that provided love and care along his Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma journey. His team of doctors at Duke Cancer Institute, especially Dr. Elise Olsen. Amedysis Home Health, MUSC- Florence and Nate Smith with the American Red Cross. Tidelands Community Hospital and all of his “friends” on the Rehab floor.  And lastly to Caris Hospice during the last weeks of life, Steve and Juliana, words cannot express our gratitude for your gracious care.
