Ronald Dennis Schweiger, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday August 29, 2020 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on April 25, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Joseph Schwieger, Sr. & Caroline “Carrie” (Benson) Schweiger.
Along with his parents, Ron is reunited in death with his brother, Joseph and his sister, Caroline.
Ron had an outgoing personality and a presence as large as his frame. He worked as a computer technician for the Social Security Administration for many years. Following his well-deserved retirement and relocation to Murrells Inlet, Ron was able to enjoy being an avid golfer and pool player. When Ron wasn’t on the course, he could be found tending to his yard and landscaping. Ron loved spending time with his friends and family and was a Master Pitch Player who was relentless to any opponent, even his grandchildren. Ron will be deeply missed but remembered for his card playing, love for his family and the peace he found on the golf course.
Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Phyllis Jean (Cook) Schweiger of Murrells Inlet; their son, Ronald D. Schweiger, Jr. and his wife, Star of Church Hill, MD; his adoring grandchildren, Ronald D. Schweiger, III and his wife, Tanya & Logan Schweiger; great-grandchildren, Ronald D. Schwieger, IV & Reagan; sisters, Janice Stevens and her husband, Donald & Brenda Schweiger and her wife, Lorri; brother, Terry Schweiger and his wife, Kathy; his adoring dog, Rylee; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held privately and at a later date.
