Roger May Obituary

Roger Allen May, 77, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday March 28, 2024 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on September 17, 1946 in Shelby, Ohio to the late Thomas May & Majorie Knapp May.

Roger proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. After serving two tours in Vietnam, Roger retired as a Captain and was able to return to civilian life. Following his honorable discharge, Roger went on to enjoy the finer things in life. In his free time, Roger enjoyed model railroading, fishing, boating watching baseball and reading. Above all else, Roger loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his quick wit, his zest for life and the love he had for his family and friends.

Left to cherish Roger’s memory are his adoring wife, Valerie James May of Surfside Beach; daughters, Shellene Taylor and her husband, Mark of Murrells Inlet & Caroline Crater of Myrtle Beach; his beloved grandchildren, Rosemary, Maura and Jameson Taylor & Braxton, Jaxson & Blase Crater; sisters, Mary Ellen Hall, Carol Wagnor & Sally Fridley; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Monday April 1, 2024 at 11:00AM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will gather to greet friends immediately following the service.
