Robert "Gator" Hornsby Obituary

Robert “Gator” Earl Hornsby, Jr., 56, of Blackville, SC passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. He was born December 20, 1963 in Rock Hill, SC son of the late Robert Earl Hornsby and Eleanor Fox Hornsby.

Survivors include his wife, Shannan Hornsby of Surfside Beach, SC; daughter, Emily Sierra Hornsby of Columbia, SC; two sons, Bobby Cathcart and Dean Cathcart of Surfside Beach; sister, Lisa Lowder and her husband Jerry of Surfside Beach; and brother, Joey Griggs and his wife Alexa of Longs, SC.

Gator enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting, hanging with his friends, watching his Gamecocks play and especially grilling. He was most famous for his oysters and his signature “Gators Gold BBQ Sauce.”

He was an upbeat, happy guy who never met a stranger.

Services will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.

The family has requested that memorial contributions in Gator’s name be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
