Robert Seigle Obituary

COL (Ret) Robert (Bob) Nicholson Seigle went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 24, 2024 and heaven will never be the same.  His dynamic personality and warrior spirit have been restored and no doubt he is regaling old friends and family who arrived before him with a rousing tale or practical joke. He loved to laugh and could instinctively find the good in every person or situation he encountered. He was never too busy for a family member or friend who needed him, and he was always at the ready for an adventure.

Bob was born on September 2, 1944 and honed his social skills growing up in Cincinnati, OH with his six siblings. His first love was basketball which took him through college and gave him lifelong friends. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1966 and soon thereafter became an aviator who flew fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft across the entirety of his 27 year career. His first duty station was Fort Bragg, NC where he met his true love, Bonnie, who is still by his side 57 years later. Bob commanded Aviation and Infantry companies in the 82nd Airborne Division and went on to command the 82nd Aviation Battalion and the 18th Airborne Corps Aviation Brigade culminating his career as the Chief of Staff of the Aviation Branch at Fort Rucker, AL. He was awarded numerous decorations, medals, badges and citations including the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal Eighth Award, Vietnam Service Medal with Service Stars Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Senior Army Aviator Badge, and the Ranger Tab. He honorably retired from the US Army in 1993 and worked in the aerospace industry for many years before founding his own consulting business, Continental Consulting Group Corporation, along with several other small businesses, where he worked until the end of his life.

For the past 16 years, Bob and his wife resided in Pawleys Island, SC.  Here he served his greatest love, Jesus Christ, in his church, First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet, and in the community among neighbors and on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was fiercely loyal to leading Precept Bible studies and covering his nation, church and family in prayer. In his spare time, he loved to attend any event involving his family, read, golf and watch basketball.

Bob is survived by his wife, Bonnie Boan (Cheraw, SC), his children Leigh Ann Musiol (Mike, Pawleys Island, SC), Leslie Davis (Hubert, Chapel Hill, NC), Paige Buckner (fiancé Jon Pardee, Dalton, GA), and Bobby Seigle (Sarah, Burke, VA), his grandchildren CPT Joey Musiol (Alyssa, Gainesville, GA), 1LT Josh Musiol (Savannah, GA) and Jenny Musiol (Pawleys Island, SC), Elijah, Bobbie Grace and Micah Davis (Chapel Hill, NC), Will and Caroline Buckner (Dalton, GA), and Trey, Elizabeth, and Sophie Seigle (Burke, VA), his great grandson Sam Musiol (Gainesville, GA), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Cordelia Seigle, and his siblings, MG (Ret) John and Marilyn Seigle, Joan (Seigle) Holley, Carol (Seigle) and Frank Holland, Sylvia (Seigle) and Norris Stayton, Tommy Seigle, Nancy (Seigle) Stratman, and grandson, Mikey Musiol.

Bob will be honored and interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet BUILDING FUND, 3891 Hwy 17, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

If Bob could share one piece of wisdom that has informed his whole life, it would be this: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength…and love your neighbor as yourself.” From Mark 12:29-31
