Robert Lee Trulove, 90, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday September 7, 2020 at his daughter’s home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He was born on September 22, 1929 in Short Creek, West Virginia to the late Ernest Clifford Truelove & Wilma Laura (Wilhelm) Truelove.
Along with his parents, Bob is reunited in death with his son, Robert Gist Trulove; brothers, Ernest Clifford Truelove, & Ralph Edward Ashcraft; and his sister, Wilma Louise Shields.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the United States Army after serving in Vietnam. He had 21 years of dedicated service, which included four tours in Korea. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Bob went on to work as a coal miner in West Virginia for over 22 years. Upon Bob’s well-deserved retirement, he was able to enjoy the finer things in life. Bob was a proud member of the Osiris Shriners in Wheeling, WV, serving as Commander of the Legion Of Honor. He belonged to the Scottish Rite and was a 33rd Degree Mason; he was also a Life member of Moose Lodge #2351 in Murrells Inlet. When Bob wasn’t involved in his community, he could be found tinkering or puttering about in his meticulously maintained yard. Above all else, Bob loved his family with his whole heart; he truly relished spending time with them and making memories. Bob will be deeply missed but remembered for his pride in our country, his hardworking nature and love for his family.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his beloved wife of 62 wonderful years, Emma Jane “EJ” (Martin) Trulove of Surfside Beach; their children, Tammy Trulove of Surfside Beach and Scott Lee Trulove of Chula Vista, CA ; grandchildren, Ryshelle Trulove, Lyndsay Trulove-Vroorman (William Albert), Chase Michael Trulove, & Scott Lee Trulove; great-grandchildren, twins, Teagen Cole Trulove-Anderson, & Caden Edward Trulove-Anderson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a large, loving, extended family.
