Robert Bang Obituary

Robert A. Bang, 70, of the River Club community on Mackinley Circle in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, formerly of Flushing, Queens, New York, passed away on March 22, 2026.

Robert was born on March 18, 1956, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York, to the late Frederick E. Bang, Sr. and Anna M. Bang (Timko).

Robert was a devoted father and grandfather who took great pride in supporting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He cherished frequent contact with his many longtime friends and relatives (Karl, Thomas, Jamie, Gabby, Matt, Lloyd, Ian, Brothers, sister et al.); A skilled and curious Master Craftsman, Robert enjoyed woodworking, auto repair, and learning how to fix just about anything, big or small. He loved working on home projects with family and friends and took pride in “making his mark” wherever he could.

Robert had a lifelong interest in tools and devices that made life easier, and he enjoyed watching videos about mechanical topics and exploring new ways to improve everyday tasks. He was always asking himself (and others) “Why don’t you do it this way…”  In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and relaxing with a drink on occasion. He was also a member of several local groups, including the Nappers Golf League, CLUB55 Bowling League, and participated in the Southern Hardware Invitational Tournament (S.H.I.T.).

Robert is survived by his children: Corey Bang and his spouse Alanna of Willow, Alaska; Madeline Bang of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; and Justin Bang and his spouse Sarah of Cebu City, Philippines and Willow, Alaska. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Abel Bang, Amos Bang, and Asher “Dumpy” Bang of Willow, Alaska; Aiden Robert Monteforte of Hicksville, New York; and Joseph Edward Bang of Cebu City, Philippines.

He is further survived by his siblings: Edward J. Bang of Kings Park, New York; Carol A. Taraci of Levittown, New York; and Frederick E. Bang, Jr. of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, along with many extended family members and dear friends. His presence and guidance will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
