Richard was born July 7th, 1939 in Buffalo, NY. He was a graduate of Canisius High School and alumni of Canisius College. An avid lifelong fisherman and golfer who acquired many trophies and awards one of the most notable being “Agitator of the Year”.
Richard worked in the finance and accounting field holding many positions including small business owner and senior executive roles.
He married the love of his life, Susan Pelchy, in 1972 and passed away one day prior to their 49th wedding anniversary. Richard is the father of seven amazing children. John (Kim), Kathleen, Rick (fiancé Kathy), pre-deceased by Julie Swearingen from first marriage to Judith Henderson. Jeremy (Jackie), Joseph (Jill), and Andrew (Katie) with Susan. He has 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Many of Richard’s favorite times were fishing with his children and grandchildren at his family cottage in Canada, golfing with the Saturday morning group in Malone, NY, the Hogs on Tuesday at International Club, Myrtle Beach, SC, and the Friday morning group at Indigo Creek, Myrtle Beach, SC.
Richard is survived by his younger sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Edward Baumgartner of Cheektowaga, NY, and his younger brother Kenneth of Niagara Falls, NY. He was also loved by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Some of whom fondly referred to him as their Favorite Uncle, or “F.U.”

There will be a celebration of his life this Spring in Buffalo, NY.
