Richard Ponty Miner, 74, of Murrells Inlet and formerly of South Salem, NY; passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday November 4, 2021 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on February 28, 1947 in Port Chester, New York to the late Patrick & Louise Ponty Miner.
Along with his parents, Richard is reunited in passing with his brothers in-law, John Galvin & Charles Mattern.
Richard was a well-educated and hardworking man. He was a graduate of Port Chester High School class of 1965 and went on to earn his Mechanical Engineering degree from the State of New York Maritime College in 1969. Richard worked for several construction companies over the years as an estimator. Following his well-deserved retirement and relocation to Murrells Inlet, Richard relished time spent on the golf course, target shooting and solving crossword & Sudoku puzzles. Above all else, Richard loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Richard’s memory are his adoring wife of over 47 years, Patricia Galvin Miner of Murrells Inlet; daughter, Kristen Miner of Mount Pleasant, SC; son, Zachary Miner of Murrells Inlet; brother, Robert Miner of New Canaan, CT; two nieces; six nephews; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Tuesday November 9, 2021 at 5:00PM at Christ the King Waccamaw Church, 9630 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.
