Richard J. Gunther, Sr., 76, of Surfside Beach and loving partner of Jean Roberts, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Pruitt Health of Conway.
Born in Chelsea, MA, Richard was the son of the late William and Ellen Gunther. He loved Hawaii and living in South Carolina, especially in Surfside Beach. A metal fabricator by trade, Richard was the former owner of Classic Fabrication in Surfside Beach. He enjoyed classic cars from the 50’s and 60’s and was especially proud of completely rebuilding a Mercedes SL from its shell. A member of Murrells Inlet American Legion and Murrells Inlet Order of Moose, Richard was an avid golfer who enjoyed meeting all his true golf buddies, especially Wayne. He was also known for his golf club holders that he made and sold to friends and area golf clubs. In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by his daughter Debra, his brother William and his sister Dorothy.
Survivors include his son, Richard Gunther, Jr of Tewksbury, MA and his loving partner for many years, Jean Roberts.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with day and time to be announced.
