Richard Darrone Obituary

Richard W. Darrone, 82, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday March 15, 2024 at his home in Murrells Inlet, SC. He was born March 30, 1941 in Syracuse, NY to the late Donald W. Darrone & Doris Julia Allen Darrone.

Dick was a dedicated and hardworking man with a heart of gold.  After graduating from Syracuse University, Dick joined the family business, Allen Tool Corporation, eventually becoming President of the company. Dick also enjoyed volunteering his time with Junior Achievement as a mentor to students developing the skills to succeed in work and life. Dick also loved spending time at the family home in Henderson Harbor on Lake Ontario and camping in the Adirondacks. In 1995, Dick moved his family from Syracuse to their favorite vacation spot, Pawleys Island, SC where he continued to work until his retirement in 2014.

Dick loved to spend time with his family and make memories with friends, and would gladly offer the shirt from his back to anyone in need.  He was convinced it was a small world, and that he somehow knew everyone, so he never really met a stranger.  Dick was a very engaging person who loved to laugh and have a good time.  His one-liners, quick wit and infectious laughter will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Dick loved and adored his wife, daughters and his grandchildren.  He will be so deeply missed. Above all, Dick loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a humble servant who led many people to the Lord.

Left to cherish Dick’s memory are his adoring wife of 43 years, Lee Ann LeStrange Darrone of Murrells Inlet, SC; their loving daughters, Christine Roberts and husband, Andy of Murrells Inlet, SC & Julie Youde and husband, Erick of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Gavin Hall, Ella Roberts, Michelle Youde & Carson Roberts; brothers, Allen Darrone and wife, Marilyn of Conway, SC & David Darrone and wife, Mary of Londonderry, NH; sister, Dorothy Emmick and husband, Gary of Hammondsport, NY; as well as many loving nieces and nephews; several cousins; a large extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday March 22, 2024 at 5:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet, 3891 Hwy 17, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
