Richard Arnold Bernier, 79, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Merrimack, New Hampshire, passed away on February 5, 2026.
Richard was born on June 19, 1946, in Berlin, New Hampshire, to the late Jack and Cecelia Bernier. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Bernier of Gorham, NH, and his sister, Mary Lee Campbell of Cumberland, VA.
He was raised in New Hampshire, where he built deep roots and lifelong connections before later relocating to South Carolina.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he was stationed in Panama during the Vietnam era, an experience he carried with quiet pride.
Following his military service, Richard dedicated 41 years of his professional life to BAE Systems, retiring in 2010. His strong work ethic and commitment were hallmarks of both his career and his personal life.
A man of many interests, Richard enjoyed participating in Drum and Bugle Corps, camping, and golfing. He was also devoted to giving back to his community, volunteering his time delivering Meals on Wheels. Richard was a faithful member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Pearl Bernier of Myrtle Beach, SC; his son, Michael Bernier of Hooksett, NH; his daughter, Shelley Brenneman of Myrtle Beach, SC; his granddaughters, Tanna Bernier and Amina Bernier, both of Hooksett, NH, and Mia Zogopoulos of Myrtle Beach, SC; and his great-grandson, Garrett Leigh of Hooksett, NH. Richard will be remembered for his steady presence, generosity of spirit, and devotion to his family, faith, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
