Retired MSgt. Robert McKinley Battle, Jr., 77, passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 3, 2026. He was born on November 27, 1948 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late Robert McKinley Battle, Sr., & Annie Mae Brown Battle.
Robert proudly served our country in the United States Air Force where he excelled with any task presented to him. He diligently climbed the ranks and proudly retired as Master Sergeant after 23 years of dedicated service. Following his separation from the military Robert went on to work for the United Parcel Service (UPS) where his smile and welcoming personality made customers drawn to him.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are his adoring wife, Mrs. Myra Cox Battle of the home in Myrtle Beach; and a large, loving, family, and many supportive friends and neighbors.
The family will gather to receive friends from 12pm until 1:30pm on Wednesday April 8, 2026 at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534. Burial with full military honors will be held at 2pm at Eastern Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
