Raymond A. Wittevrongel, 80, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday October 4, 2020 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on July 7, 1940 in Montclair, New Jersey to the late Raymond A. Wittevrongel, Sr. & Agnes (Keane) Wittevrongel.
Along with his parents, Ray is reunited in death with his sister, Renee Jarman.
Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army & Army Reserves for many years. During his time of enlistment, Ray was stationed in Korea, Germany & United States. He served with the 1st Aviation Brigade during the Vietnam War (1965-1966) and 78th Division Detachment 1 Training Support Brigade during Desert Storm. Following Ray’s honorable discharge, he was able to enjoy the finer things in life. He became a skilled truck driver and enjoyed his time with his family and loving wife. In his free time, He was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 925 in Myrtle Beach. Ray had a vibrant personality which allowed him to make friends wherever he went. Above all else, Ray loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed but remembered for his quick wit, selflessness and the impact he had on the many lives he touched.
Left to cherish Ray’s memory are his beloved wife of 53 years, Mrs. Lois (Caprio) Wittevrongel of Murrells Inlet; daughter, Angela Tobe and her husband, Bob of New Jersey & son, Michael Wittevrongel and his wife, Bashirah also of New Jersey; his adoring grandchildren, Aaron Wittevrongel, Kaitlyn Tobe, Rose Tobe, Aidan Wittevrongel, Alex Wittevrongel, Suri Baerga, Soren Wittevrongel, & Jayme Wittevrongel; his faithful k9 companion, Lady; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation, the kindness, love, comfort and support extended to them during this difficult time. The calls, messages and prayers are greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Saturday October 10, 2020 at 10:00AM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings will greet friends immediately following the service, until 12:00PM.
