Raymond Irving Lambert, 86, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday May 18, 2022 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on October 21, 1935 in Washington, DC to the late Vickers & Mary Grace Hardesty Lambert.
Along with his parents, Ray is reunited in passing with all of his siblings, Vickers, Ralph, Roland, Doris, & Mary Lillian.
Ray proudly served our country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to become a dedicated firefighter for the city of Washington, DC. Following his first retirement, Ray went on to drive school buses for the Maryland School System. In his younger years and in his free time, Ray enjoyed playing tennis and baseball. Upon Ray’s final retirement and relocation to Murrells Inlet, he enjoyed riding around on his golf cart or scooter in the neighborhood. Ray relished a good meal with family and friends. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and cheering on the Washington Redskins & Nationals. Above all else, Ray loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Ray’s memory are his wife of over 19 years, Mrs. Jackie Lambert of Murrells Inlet; his sons, Michael Lambert and wife, Debbie of MD, Mark Lambert of MD, Matthew Lambert and wife, Shellie of MD & David Lambert and wife, Wendy of MD; stepdaughter, Crystal Wright and husband, Mark of MD; grandchildren, Jason, Jennie (David), Sean (Karina), Eric, Ryan (Shaina), Alissa, Justin and Jessika; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jace, Malena, and Brayden; his beloved k9 companion, Miley; as well as his brothers and sisters in law, several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held at a later date.
