Our loved one, R. Elaine Peters, entered into God's Grace on October 24, 2023 after a long illness. She was born in Medina, New York on August 10, 1929 to Harrold and Ellen Powley.
Along with her parents, Elaine is reunited in passing with her beloved husband, Harley E. Peters- who left this world on February 16, 2018. Elaine is also reunited with her son, Daryl; and brother, Lee Powley.
Elaine married Harley on February 7, 1949. They lived in Lyndonville, New York where they started their family. Elaine worked at Citizen Central Bank, Langden Truck Lines and was secretary to the principal at Lyndonville Central High School. After retiring she opened Country Junction Store on Main Street, Lyndonville. Elaine loved her family, home decorating, her pets, dancing, music, Myrtle Beach shows, mining for gems, and traveling with Harley. After traveling to Myrtle Beach often, they moved and made Garden City, S.C, their homestead in 1998. She will be missed by many and thought of everyday. Her family knows she is at peace and dancing in Heaven listening to Willie.
Elaine is survived by her son, Dennis “Denny” and wife, Robin Peters; daughter, Bette Jean Wakefield; grandchildren, Spencer and Laura Peters, Chad and Danielle Wakefield, Chase and Kassie Wakefield, Joe and Jennifer Arena, & Jessica and Bill Shamburg; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Celebration of Elaine’s Life will be on Sunday November 05, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Low Country Community Church (LC3), 4430 Murrells Inlet Road, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576
