Phyllis Green Obituary

Phyllis Madeline Rose Green, 91, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024. Born in Canada and formally of Southington, CT, She was the daughter of the late Earnest Walsh and Estella Henderson Walsh.

Phyllis enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and spreading joy wherever she went. She was a head cashier for 20 plus years until she retired and moved to Calabash, NC, where she and her husband, Carl, made many new friends. She enjoyed entertaining at her home and planning large parties for neighborhood gatherings. She loved to sing, dance and read books on her sunny screened in  porch. She was a friendly neighbor and never met a stranger. She would keep up with friends and extended family with phone calls, and through Facebook. Many loved her posts. She was unknowingly funny and super sweet. She had the most infectious laugh and became more beautiful as she grew older!

She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana and great Nanny to her husband, 5 children, 9 Grandchildren and 9 great grands. Phyllis was Saved by Jesus Christ and baptized at the age of 83. Her life changed quickly as she prayed and read her Bible. Jesus became so real in her life. She had a childlike faith and that reflected in her connection with God. She attendes Highest Praise Church, lifts her hands to praise God and spread her light, joy, and faith with everyone she encounters. She was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Green; son, Carl Wayne Green, and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters, Catherine Sheehan of Calabash, NC, Judy Freer (Terry) of Southington, CT, Cindy Higgins (Mike) of Little River, SC; son, Gary Green of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Sherilyn Higgins, Kelly Matthews, Kevin Higgins, Taylor Higgins, Matthew Freer, Olivia Freer, Dean Freer, Jason Green, and Marc Rosiello; great grandchildren, Hudon , Beckham,  Connor Green, Liam Green, Ali Green, Brody Matthews, and Micah Sears. The family would like to say a special thanks to all of those who reached out with beautiful stories, photos and kind words about our mother and Nana.

She was clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed., her husband also, and he praises her. Proverbs 31:25-28.

We will see you soon. We love and miss you.
