Percy Cox, Jr. Obituary

Percy L. Cox, Jr., 86, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Brightwater Assisted Living. He was born March 05, 1934 in Liberty, NC son of the late Percy L. Cox, Sr. and Leoline Routh Cox.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five sisters, Ruth Lineberry, Mary Routh Underwood, Louvelia Ferguson Morris, Blanche Powell and Martha Williamson; and two brothers, John Page Cox and Charles Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Hinshaw Cox of Myrtle Beach; two sons, Eric Cox and his wife Holly of Murrells Inlet and Derek Cox of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Caitlin, Corey, Peyton and Kennedy; sisters, Doris Trogdon Beeson, Rachel Davis, Irene Surratt and Margaret Ester; and brothers, Wayne Cox and James Ray Cox.

Percy owned and operated Cox Mill Work and Supply Company in Myrtle Beach. He was an original member of the Horry-Georgetown Home Builders Association and original manager of the Lowes Home Improvements in Myrtle Beach from 1967-1983. He also served in the United States Air Force.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Percy’s name to the Tara Hall Home for Boys, PO Box 955 Georgetown, SC 29442.
