Paula Ann Leavitt, 60, passed away peacefully and with her loving husband by her side on Monday February 16, 2026 while at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina- after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on August 19, 1965 in Trenton, Michigan to the late Mary Lou Wright Hill and Mr. Thomas Monroe Hill of Mississippi.
Along with her mother, Paula is reunited in passing with her brother, Troy Hill.
Paula was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold and a zest for life. She was a proud military wife who truly loved and supported her husband and country. During her working years, Paula was a skilled finance officer for several mortgage companies where she made life-long friends. In her later years and especially during her battle with cancer, Paula was the light in the darkness. Her upbeat, positive demeanor made her a beacon of love and acceptance during a difficult time. Paula recognized that love was the answer and treated everyone with respect. During her toughest battles, Paula could be found crafting to lift the spirits of others in need. When she was able, Paula relished time spent with her husband, fundraising for veterans and animals and making up the traditional raffle baskets. Charity work was Paula’s ministry. In her free time and above all else, Paula enjoyed time making memories with her family and close friends. Her husband lovingly describes her as a saint who definitely earned her wings. Paula’s love did not stop at humans; she loved animals just as much! Paula loved dedicating her time to animals, especially her own. For Paula, her dogs were her life! Gussy, Mazien, Mattie, crazy Marley (whom several people had to sacrifice their lower legs to hug Ms. Paula) and the late Frankie Bean the walking tater tot, dog- as well as so many others; held a very special place in Paula’s heart.
Along with her father, left to cherish Paula’s memory are her beloved husband of over 42 years, Mr. Richard A. Leavitt of Pawleys Island, SC; their daughter, Jennee Leavitt (Josh King) of Logandale, NV; sister, Lisa Hill; an army of nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends that are family.
A Celebration of Paula’s life will be held at a later date. Those details will be announced when finalized.
At the request of the family, in honor of Paula’s giving nature, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Paula’s name may be made to South Paw Rescue.
