Paul Glennan Obituary

“Life is short, enjoy the music while you still can”

Paul Joseph Glennan, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 7, 2021 at his home in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. He was born in Flushing, New York on June 17, 1943, the middle son of Joseph and Marguerite Glennan.

Along with his parents, Paul is reunited in passing with his brother, Joseph Glennan.

Paul attended St. Andrew Avellino Catholic Academy and Holy Cross High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he worked as an MP. When he returned to civilian life he became a New York police officer, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, father, and older brother Joe. In 1976 Paul married the love of his life, Demi. They lived in Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y. During their married years they did a lot of traveling. Then, Paul discovered the second love of his life — skiing! He became a ski instructor and worked in Windham Mountain for 10 years. After Paul and Demi retired they moved to Heritage Plantation in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. That same year, Paul and Demi decided to spend the winters in Park City, Utah. Paul spent the next 20 years working as a ski instructor at Deer Valley, Utah. They still continued their travels, went to Mexico on one trip, and fell in love with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico ... splitting their time now between Pawleys, Deer Valley and Puerto Vallarta. In addition to loving skiing, Paul enjoyed watching and talking about many other sports, including football and baseball. He also played tennis and golf. Paul had an outgoing personality which led him to never meet a stranger. He enjoyed country music and attended many concerts over the years. In his free time, Paul relished making memories with family and friends, going out to eat and trying new restaurants. Above all else, Paul loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Paul’s memory are his adoring wife of over 45 years, Demi Glennan of Pawleys Island; brother, Donald and wife, Lolly of The Villages, FL; sister in-law, Margaret Glennan; many nieces, nephews and cousins; a large loving extended family and many supportive friends, neighbors and lives he’s touched.

A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Friday September 17, 2021 at 11:00am at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, 1633 Waverly Rd, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.

At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Paul’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675, St. Jude Children’s Research at www.stjude.org or to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
