Pattie Stotler Obituary

Pattie Sue Stotler, 88, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on

July 29, 2026. Born May 31, 1938, she lived a long, rich, and deeply purposeful life,

leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Pattie was a

graduate of Chilhowie High School Class of 1954, in Chilhowie, Virginia and she

subsequently studied at Chamberlin University where she laid the foundation for a

career dedicated to the care and well-being of others. She went on to pursue a

career in nursing, devoting many years of faithful service to the Fairfax County Public

School System, where she specialized in the care of elementary school children. For

Pattie, nursing was her calling and she cherished every moment spent helping those

in need, and the children and families she served were better for having had her in

their lives.

Beyond her professional life, Pattie was the heart of her home. She possessed a

rare and natural gift for hospitality, making every person who walked through her

door feel instantly welcomed and embraced as family. She was famous among

friends and loved ones for her weekly gatherings, where the evening could be filled

with lively card games, favorite music, dancing, or simply the kind of easy, unhurried

conversation that only the most comfortable of homes can inspire. Her infectious

laugh, radiant smile, and vibrant personality were her trademarks, and they lit up

every room she entered.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne L. Ward, Sr. and her

beloved second husband, Wayne Allen Stotler Sr. She is survived by her four

children: Debora L. Raymond of Myrtle Beach, SC. Wayne L. Ward, Jr. of Walnut

Creek, CA. Steven A. Ward of Tampa, FL. and Michael A. Stotler of Gainesville, VA.

Pattie also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of

whom was a source of tremendous joy and pride to her.

Pattie Sue lived as she loved — generously, joyfully, and without reservation. Her

memory will be treasured by all, and her spirit will be felt for generations to come.
