Patrizia (Patricia/Pat) Gioino

Patrizia (Patricia/Pat) Gioino, 70, formerly of Astoria, New York, passed away peacefully in her son, Mark’s home surrounded by her loving family in Conway, South Carolina on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).  She was born on May 17, 1955, in Rome, Italy to the late Settimio Durante and Franca (Ciancarelli) Durante. Patrizia immigrated to the United States and settled in New York at the age of ten with her parents and older brother.

Patrizia was a graduate of Long Island City High School and received her Associate Degree in Business from Queensborough Community College in New York. She was a successful travel agent at Stork Travel in Astoria, Queens for many years. While in Astoria, Patrizia was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. 

Patrizia was a very hard-working and devoted woman who took great pride in her roles as mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was happiest in her home in Astoria, Queens, where she raised her two sons. Patrizia enjoyed providing for her family, spoiling her grandchildren, trading stocks and talking on the phone with her older brother. She also looked forward to spending Friday nights with her three girlfriends, Rina, Mickey and Gloriana. Patrizia will forever be remembered for always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. She will also be remembered for her incredible strength, generosity and selflessness. 

Left to cherish Patrizia’s loving memory are her children: Mark Gioino (Nicole Abate), and Steven Gioino (Melissa Lozada). She will forever be remembered by her four adoring grandchildren: Felicia, Alessia, Noella Jo and Orazio; as well as by her brother: Felice (Felix) Durante. Additionally, Patrizia is remembered by many cousins and companions.

Patrizia is now in God’s Hands, resting in eternal peace.

As per Patrizia’s wishes, a Celebration of Patrizia’s Life will be held privately with family members and close friends. The family respectfully asks, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Church First Baptist Murrells Inlet in South Carolina.
