Patricia Stapleton Obituary

Patricia Ann Martin (Pam) Stapleton, age 69, passed away on August 22, 2025, with family by her side. She was born on June 8, 1956, in Riverside, California.

Pam graduated from Auburn High School in Auburn, Massachusetts, in 1974. In 1981, she took a road trip to Florida but made a pit stop in Surfside Beach, South Carolina — and never left. That same year, she met and eventually married Neal Stapleton.

In 1985, Neal opened Neal & Lee’s, which would soon become Neal & Pam’s, a popular bar and gathering spot in Surfside Beach. Pam and Neal shared nearly 30 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. In 2010, due to Neal’s failing health, the bar was sold to Zach Baker. Even after the transition, Neal & Pam’s continued to hold a special place in Pam’s heart, and she visited on a regular basis.

In 2014, Pam reconnected with an old high school friend and found love again. On December 1, 2017, she married Bobby Fournier, and together they shared years filled with laughter, love, and companionship until her passing.

Although Pam had no biological children, she shared a special relationship with and took pride in her role as “StepMunster” to Aimee Stapleton, who had been in her life since 1982. She also got to be a GiGi to Peyton & Parker Farrell and Carmelita Skaza.

Pam always had a special connection to animals, and she was a devoted fur baby mother to many pets throughout her life. She especially cherished her dogs Maggie, Molly, Pearl, and her current boxer Billie. She always had multiple cats in the home, as she could not imagine life without animals to love and care for.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Rodney and Evelyn (Billie) Martin, her brother Peter Martin, her husband Neal Stapleton, and countless fur babies she loved throughout her life.

Pam was a creative free spirit with a quirky personality and a green thumb. She enjoyed spending time in her garden. An amazing cook, Pam, absolutely loved hosting parties — especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her home always had an open invitation for anyone who didn’t have somewhere to celebrate.

Pam often said her house was her sanctuary, and she made sure that anyone who walked through her door felt comfortable and welcome. She loved watching old movies, doing crossword puzzles, telling jokes, and watching sports. She was a devoted Gamecock fan and proudly cheered for all her favorite New England teams.

Pam is survived by her loving husband, Bobby; her stepdaughter, Aimee; her grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, Vickie Moree; her beloved boxer, Billie; and her two cherished cats, Simon and Lola. Pam leaves behind countless, special friends and former patrons who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

There will be a Celebration of Pam’s life and beautiful spirit on Sunday, April 26, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m., at Neal & Pam’s Bar & Grill and concluding at Griffins (formally known as as Borgata)
