Patricia Moretto Obituary

Patrica A Moretto of Surfside Beach, SC passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026 at the age of 89. She was born on December 2, 1936 in Batavia NY. After graduating from Ithaca College  she had a 33-year career as a high school and middle school Physical Education and Health teacher including positions in Long Island, NY, Augsburg Germany (US Army Base), Batavia High School and Attica Middle School. 

Students will remember her as a Volleyball and Field Hockey coach.  She elevated the all sports in the school by introducing several programs most memorable the renowned Sports Nights at Batavia High School.

Upon retirement she moved to Ocean Lakes in Surfside, SC.  She was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St Michael’s in Garden City for decades.  

Pat enjoyed golf, reading and gardening and was a skilled stain glass artist in juried shows. She had a love for all animals and a special bond with her beloved dog Scruffy, cats Butterscotch and Precious and the birds who visited her deck. She was known for her humor and hysterical antics; There was always laughter when she told a story.

Her parents Pauline and Louis Moretto and her aunt Ella Long predeceased her. She is survived by brother Louis (Camille) Moretto, nieces Michele (Tony) Slominski, Mari (Donnie) Lee, Lisa (Lori) Moretto and nephew Mark (Lisa) Moretto. She has eight great nieces and nephews. She will be entombed at St. Joesph’s Cemetery in Batavia, NY.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
