Niall Desmond Glynn, 86, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday September 30, 2021 at his home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He was born on June 6, 1935 in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland to the late Michael Desmond Glynn & Mary Katherine McMahon.
Along with his parents, Niall is reunited in passing with his brother, Michael Glynn.
Niall proudly served our country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, Niall went on to become a dedicated New York City Police Officer. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, watching the birds enjoy the feeders and giving treats to every dog he met. Niall found peace on the golf course with the wind in his hair. Above all else, Niall loved his wife and family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Niall’s memory are his adoring wife, Mary Glynn of Surfside Beach; daughters, Laura Fuerst, of Huntington, NY, & Christine Glynn, of Charleston, SC; son , Sean Glynn, of Austin, TX; grandsons, Jack Desmond Fuerst, of Huntington, NY, Nick Cavanaugh, of Clemson, SC & Dirk Cavanaugh of Charleston, SC; sisters, Sheelagh Oliver & Oonagh Dillon; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation the kindness, care and compassion shown to them by everyone who has reached out. A special thanks to Waccamaw Rehab Hospital and Regency Hospice Company.
A Celebration of Niall’s life will be held on Saturday October 23, 2021 at 945AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576. For those unable to attend, St Michael’s Church has a live streaming option. You can access it by going to their website and about a 1/3rd of the way down on the left-hand side you’ll see a “Live Streaming Frame.”
