Nancy Carmella (Milano) McDonough

Nancy Carmella McDonough, 80, of Surfside Beach, SC, passed away on September 2, 2023 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. She was born in Orange, NJ, to Joseph and Mary Milano.

Nancy fought for three years, beating, Triple stint surgery, Afib ablation, pacemaker surgery, as well as beating breast cancer.  She was a strong woman, with a heart of gold.

Nancy and her husband, Ed, moved to Surfside Beach, SC from Landing, NJ in 2003. She retired from being an Executive Secretary at an International Machine Company. They both found their home in Oceanside Village, where until recently, Nancy was an active member in the community. She was awarded with The Lifetime Volunteer Award in 2021. Nancy had also been a member of the Red Hats, as well as the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed most of her time by her husband’s side. They enjoyed black and white movies and sitting on the back porch relaxing in the fresh air. But her greatest joy were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Left to cherish Nancy’s memory is her husband, Edward James McDonough; her children, Joseph T. and wife Leanora McDonough, Nancy ann Van Orden and Dawn Marie and husband Dan Wismer; her grandchildren, Ashlee Nakole, Sean Joseph and wife Soe, Hunter Griffin, Molly Helene, Anthony Paul, and Zoe Marie; as well as her great grandchildren, Ian and Eli.

Nancy is also survived by her two sisters, Maria Cico and Joanne Duffy. As well as, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and a few very close childhood friends.

Nancy’s heart could not be any larger, she gave as much as she could, and made friends with everyone she met. She will be remembered for her kindness, faith, love, laughter and her beautiful smile.

A funeral mass will be held at 2:00pm Friday, September 8, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Avenue, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Inurnment to follow in the church columbarium.
