Nancy Harrell Bullard

Nancy Harrell Bullard of Aynor, South Carolina passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 19, 2025 – just one day shy of her 74th birthday.  She was born on July 20, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland.  She was a long-time resident of St. Mary’s County, Maryland.  Moving to South Carolina twenty years ago after retiring from a long career with the phone company.  Nancy lived a life marked by grace, quiet strength and deep devotion to her family, friends and faith.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, James Bullard. Nancy was a devoted mother to her four children: Daniel Bullard (Elena), David Bullard (Jennifer), Lynn Shamblin (Shane) and Anthony Bullard (Martha).  She was also a proud grandmother to her 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.  She is additionally survived by her two brothers Arthur Mather (Sandy) and Mark Mather (Patty).

Nancy found joy in tending her flowers and plants, crocheting gifts for loved ones, swimming in her pool and curling up with a good book. She was a devoted member of Poplar Community Church.

Nancy’s life was a reflection of kindness and warmth.  She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome-she was a friend to everyone.  Her warm smile, easy laughter, and genuine kindness drew people in and made them feel at home.  Whether you knew her for years or just a few minutes she felt like a caring friend.

She will be greatly missed.  Her compassionate ear and timely phone calls were consistent comfort to so many.  Not a day went by that she wasn’t checking on those she loved and offering a helping hand.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on August 9, 2025, at Poplar Branch Community Church at 11:00 a.m., where she was a longtime member.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
