Michael “Mike” Scott Matthews, 58, of Florence, SC, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020. He was born December 18, 1961 in Florence, SC son of the late Billy Gilbert Matthews and Virginia Scott Matthews.

Michael is survived by one son, Scott Matthews (Amber) of Florence, SC; one daughter, Lacey Matthews of Florence, SC; one brother, Steve Matthews (Debbie) of Florence, SC; one grandchild, Madison Matthews; and two nephews, Lawton (Ashton) Matthews and Spencer (Chelsea) Matthews.

Mike loved fishing, especially deep sea fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. He truly enjoyed being the life of the party.

A celebration of life for Mike will be held at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mike’s name to Florence County Humane Society, 1434 S McCurdy Rd, Florence, SC 29506.
