Michael J. McMenemon

Michael J. McMenemon, 74, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away peacefully Monday November 17, 2025, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. 

Formerly of Brooklyn, NY and Pine Bush, NY, Michael was the son of the late James McMenemon and Mary Loretta McMenemon (née MacDonnell).

A proud, retired Lieutenant with the New York City Fire Department for 30 years, Michael enjoyed drumming, playing golf mahjong, traveling, his local gun club and especially volunteering

and supporting his beloved Seasons community. He was a member of the NYFD Officer’s Association, the Pawleys Island Community Band and Knights of Columbus. Michael was

a beloved husband, father, and Misha (grandfather) who cherished his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret “Mimi” Smythe and his brothers, John McMenemon and James “Sandy” McMenemon.

Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth McMenemon of Murrells Inlet, SC; daughters, Marybeth McMenemon and partner Don Miller of Montgomery, NY; Carolyn McMenemon Nutting

and spouse Mike Nutting of Rochester, NY; Kellie McMenemon Schultz and spouse Matthew Schultz of Queens, NY; granddaughters, Norah Ann Nutting, Eloise Jae McMenemon Schultz,

Sadie James Nutting, and Marlowe Mae McMenemon Schultz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday November 22, 2025, at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys Island, SC. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Friday November 21, 2025, at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Memorial donations may be made in Michael’s name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org
